A shooting wounded seven college-aged people including some Alabama A&M University students partying in Florida for Spring Break, authorities said.

A 911 call led Bay County Sheriff’s Office deputies to a chaotic scene south of Panama City Beach with victims inside a home and others fleeing the party with gunshot wounds.

The alleged gunman left a 40 caliber handgun in a nearby backyard and fled the area of 5312 Thomas Drive, a short jaunt from the Gulf of Mexico, only to be captured by police.

He has been identified as David Jamichael Daniels, 22, of Mobile, Alabama, where at least three of the seven victims are from, the Sheriff’s Office announced.

The shooting followed a hearing where angry neighbors asked the city to put a ban on drinking along the beach, where spring break visitors typically congregate in March, according to the News Herald.

“This is what we’ve been trying to warn people about,” Sheriff Frank McKeithen told the News Herald. “It’s been a rough time and there are two completely different elements of spring break. There are the college kids who are here for their spring break and there is the group of people drawn here because of them.”

By weight and size, it may be the most valuable object in the world. The stamp is just one souvenir of the strange legacy of John E. du Pont, a man who had everything money could buy but threw it away in one moment of blind violence.
