6-Alarm Warehouse Fire Burns in Brooklyn; Nobody Hurt - ABC News

NEW YORK — Jan 31, 2015, 3:22 PM ET

A Brooklyn warehouse fire has been raised to six alarms as more than 200 firefighters fight the blaze that sent smoke billowing over the New York borough and across the East River into Manhattan.

There were no initial reports of injuries in the Williamsburg neighborhood fire.

A fire spokesman says the blaze was reported about 6:30 a.m. Saturday, two hours after crews had put out an earlier fire in the same structure.

By afternoon, firefighters were being rotated as they coped with strong winds and temperatures so low that ice formed on their helmets.

The building contained offices and storage and lots of paper, which served to fuel flames that burned through walls.

Assisted by fire boats, firefighters formed a perimeter and aimed steady streams of water at the blaze.
